Potted Oregano boxes for Mothers Day! These little burlap-wrapped pots are so fun and a perfect gift or to keep for yourself!
Place in a sunny window and clip off sprigs to add to your cooking. I will be selling these this Saturday at http://www.metroparks.org/Parks/SecondStreetMarket/Home.aspx. They are $5. Check out these photos of these handmade bags from Haiti. So fun and perfect for those market goods, hang on the door with flowers tucked in or to give as a gift! I sold these at the April Springfield Flea Market. There are still some available; below are better descriptions and prices. This bag is stiff and made with dried leaves. Its woven tightly and very sturdy. It measures 16.5" x 15" w/o handles and is only $3! These bags were made by a Haitian friend, made from an international burlap printed coffee bag. What a fun vintage-looking bag for purchases. These bags range from 22.5" x 15" to 19"x 22.5". for $7. Another cool bag made with dried leaves from Haiti, shades of muted green and blue woven in together-all leaves! It measures from 14.5" x 15" w/o handles and is selling for $5, what a buy! This bag too is made with dried leaves from Haiti. this one is a little smaller and has an adjustable shoulder strap it has a very impressive weave pattern with a faded green woven through. It measures 10.5" x 11". These seem more of what you would use for a purse, they are stiff and sturdy. I love these bags for only $5 and to think when you buy these bags, you are helping the Haitian people!
The sunflower seedlings are popping through, its finally warming! I'll be at market soon with beautiful sunflowers ready for you to enjoy! The market http://www.theheightsfarmersmarket.com/ will be opening soon, check their website to keep posted.
Check out this photo from downtown Port-au-Prince! This city was once a booming tourist place. I liked this old hotel sign, a great photo that I recently had mounted on a 1/16" thick mat board. It is ready to buy for $6. I will be selling this, along with other boutique and vintage finds, boxwood wreaths and decor. for Easter on the 12th of April. http://www.springfieldantiqueshow.com/ I will be selling there from 8am-5pm.
This fresh living wreath is made with moss and the "Hens and Chicks" succulent and a couple other succulents. I will be selling this weekend @ the Second Street Market and also taking orders now for this wreath. It sells for $18, and is 9-10" in diameter. I also have a larger one (not pictured) for $24,
and it measures 13-14". Come visit us @ the market http://www.metroparks.org/Parks/SecondStreetMarket/Home. or place your order today by calling:937-506-0794 or e-mail: mailto:wendylavy@yahoo.com Thinking of Easter and what it means to each one of us. This crown signifies what our Lord did for each one of us. "They dressed him in purple, after braiding a crown of thorns, they put in on Him". Mark 15:17 He died for each one of us so we could be free from our sin, and that we can live eternally with Him! We can now rejoice in the resurrection! He lives and is interceding for each one of us, praise God!
You can order a "crown of thorns" for $18. Each one is approx. 8-10" in diameter and is ready to ship or pick-up anytime. When you have burlap strips left from a project, make a wreath! This is made from a styrofoam wreath base. Wrap the strips around and secure end with a pin. Then, to make roses I used wide, wired-fabric ribbon. Fold ribbon in half horizontally and roll up into a rose (as you roll it make it uneven, to make it look more like a flower). Secure onto wreath with a straight pin. You could also tuck in sprigs of boxwood around the roses for a fuller look, be creative!

Wendy LavyThis blog was inspired by the creativity of the Haitian people. The ideas of how they "Go Green" is because they have to save and make do with what they have. Unlike the American people with too much, that they don't think about waste. Their gardening and produce is grown mostly without pesticides, because they don't have it or they cannot afford it. In 2012-2014 our family had the opportunity to serve as missionaries in Haiti. We learned a lot and made many new friends there. Although we are now back to our home in America, we left a piece of our hearts there and try to visit and help where we can. Archives
